Belfius Bank Belgium enforces strict security measures that block certain payment types by default. These include Cross Border Transactions and payments to countries outside Belgium. The PSU (Payment Service User) must manually enable these features to proceed with such payments.
Understanding the Issue
If Cross Border Transactions or payments to non-Belgian (non-BE) countries are not enabled, the PSU may encounter the following error:
PERMISSION_DENIED: Customer profile does not permit this action.
This error typically arises when attempting:
- A non-SEPA credit transfer (e.g., a payment in euros outside the SEPA zone or in another currency within or outside SEPA).
- Payments to countries outside Belgium.
Steps to Resolve the Issue
To enable Cross Border or non-BE payments, the PSU should follow these steps:
-
Log in to the Belfius Web Channel
Access their Belfius Bank account through the official online banking platform. -
Navigate to Security Profile
Locate the section for managing security settings. -
Enable Payments to Non-BE Countries
Update settings to allow international payments, or whitelist specific countries to enable payments only to those destinations.
Additional Support
If the PSU encounters issues or has questions about enabling these features, they should contact Belfius Bankβs support team for further assistance.
